Material Science Engineer Role Summary & Purpose The Material Science Engineer will be responsible for the research, development, testing, and continuous improvement of composite-based products and other advanced materials. This role will be based in Charlotte, NC or Klamath Falls, OR and will consider and evaluate the properties of composite materials and their fitness for specific product applications. Applied experience within fenestration products, composite materials, sealants, laminates, glass, adhesive materials engineering, materials testing, and a background in research and development relevant to a manufacturing environment a strong plus. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary Must have a basic knowledge of statistics. Six Sigma certification is not required but is beneficial, as is training and experience using a range of statistical tools. Ability to create, read, and interpret graphical data. Ability to design and conduct experiments with a full understanding of both OFAT and DOE methodology. Possesses solid working knowledge of the Scientific Method and logical thought process. Understands Standards of Evidence. Experience leading cross-functional teams to successful project outcomes. Ability to present and solicit support for ideas. Education / Qualifications Bachelor of Science degree in Composite or Wood Science and Engineering or Polymer Chemistry, MS preferred.
